Lip Syncs

Intially, we did an lip sync to the song ''Uptown Funk'' by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars. We used our school's drama room for filming the lip sync video because the black curtains are simple and plain and it doesnt take attentiion away from the lip syncing. Although the lip sync practising was successful and boosted our confidence,  howvever the song was too funky, upbeat and is not very Indie/Pop. So we decided to lip sync to another song. At this moment we were deciding which song from the unsigned artists we should choose from.

After watching the lip syncing to the ''Uptown Funk'' song once we edited the clip in Final Cut Pro. We decided to lip sync to Lana Del Ray's song ''Young and Beautiful''. This song is much slower and the mood of the song is more melancholy and theatrical compared to the 'Uptown Funk' song. Since, Lana Del Ray is an Indie/Pop female artist, this gave us opportunity to actually see how her music video is created, so we can film our lip sync in a way that was inspired by her music video. We still stuck with the same backdrop of the black curtains because it is very suited to our chosen music genre because of the colour of the curtian. This also workedin our favour because in Lana Del Ray's music video 'Young and Beautiful', she performing in a dark stage, with orchestras in the same stage, so the curtains depict that stage like presence in our lip sync.

From both videos, I learnt that lip syncing is not very easy as it seems, you need to make sure you are wording the lyrics out clearly as well as the body language and facial expressions needs to match the mood of the music (within the song). This gave to also get the hang of using the Final Cut Pro software again, last time we all used this software last year fro our Film Openings.
