Before any actual preparation and filming the music video project, I practised first, by editing an street themed music video, with animal mascots freestyling and break dancing. I also added a suitable song; an Electro-hop song, with elements of singing and rapping. The song is called 'Feelin' Myself', performed by will.i.am featuring Miley Cyrus, French Montana and Wiz Khalifa.
I used Final Cut Pro to edit out these random selection of animal mascots break dancing and freestyling all around a city. The reason why I picked this will.i.am's song 'Feelin Myself' because the break dancing matched the beats to the songs and rhythm of the rapping and smooth rapping and breaking dancing.
I did not need to include another animal mascot to sing as or portray Miley Cyrus since she is the only artist singing in the actual song and rest are rapping.
I thought of this idea by watching the music video for the song 'Where is the Love?' peformed by Black Eyed Peas ft. Justin Timberlake. Only the Black Eyed Peas are in that music video rapping and acting rebelliously, literally asking everyone outside and all around them, where is the love?. You can only hear Justin Timberlake's distinctive falsetto singing in the chrous and random adolescences are lip synching to the chorus.
Also, I cutted out some bits of the song in Final cut Pro because the song was too long and there wasnt much clips from the animal mascots video for it match the song. This taught me how important it is to edit an music video and how much it should compliment to the visuals and lyrics.
Practising & Editing a Music Video
Before actually considering my music video concept/narrative/perfomance ideas, I practised on editing an music video, mainstream song and 2 album covers.
