Music Video Drafts
1.
Added more clips
This is our first draft of the music video. It has the clips from Southbank; me and the actor walking in a bridge, surrounded by the scenic and romantic view of the sea and famous landmarks. There were slips from the previous projection scene, but we had to re-film due to the fact that we had to use our own footage of the different landscapes for the projection screening and not footage we liked in YouTube. We added the new projection scenes in the later drafts. We also deleted the Southbank scenes because it did not go with the mood of the music video, which is moody throughout and that needs to be depicted through the location, the emotions, the costume as the song is doesn't build up spontaneously, it is actually in one pace. We decided to go to Abney Park as this location suits the mood of the song and this location is more expected in an Indie/Pop music video, rather than Southbank because looking at my research on other Indie/Pop music videos the locations are very secluded and gloomy(particularly when the main singer from The 1975, he is lip syncing in an isolated alleyway or tunnel in their music video for their song 'Chocolate') and Southbank or the parks and riverside in Wapping does not meet that description. We chose to filter the pictures of Wapping for the inside cover and CD disk for the album so it looks more fantasy based, which links with the pictures we took in Abney Park but also wanted to creates an darker portrayal of Indie/Pop as the song is very intense and not jolly like the more upbeat Indie/Pop songs, such as Marina and the Diamonds' music video for Primadonna. We added more scenes such as myself painting 'HOLD ME DOWN', which is mentioned a few times in the chorus of the song, which the artist/I destroy the painting by smearing lots of purple and pink paint all over it, to express that anger/ aftermath of dealing with heartbreak and the need of wanting to restart. These new scenes will be shown throughout the new draft, as well as re-filmimg the newer location shots of moody forests from Abney Park, so that dark theme is obviously depicted in the music video. Also, the teacup, glasses and fairy lights scene won’t be included because those will potentially confuses the reader's eye because they would be too much scenes coming back and forth, which won’t depict that sense of continuity and it would not match mood of the lyrics of the song either.
